Kid's Fishing Day Activity List
1) Face Painting! Our friends from Simcoe Hall Settlement House and the Boys and Girls Club of Durham Region will be in the activity area with their team of Face Painting Artists. This is always a very popular activity sure to create many happy faces.
2) Fish Identification! Members of CLOCA will have a very cool display with lot's of information designed to help you identify many of the fish species that are native to Ontario and some which can be found in Ontario, but weren't always here.
3) Furbearer Display and Exhibits! The Lindsay Trappers Council have a great display and information about furbearing animals of Ontario. This is a very educational exhibit where you can learn more about many of Ontario's fur bearing animals.
4) Freshwater Pond Ecology and Kids Colouring! Ducks Unlimited are here again to help kids learn all about life in a freshwater pond and since the most important thing for kids is fun, there will be Kids Colouring.
5) Make Your Own Fishing Lure! That's right, with the help of our friends from Muskies Canada, kids can learn what it takes to make a fishing lure. Experts will demonstrate how to make a lure and the kids can make their own lure to take home.
6) Casting Demonstration and Casting Contest! This event hosted by Calvary Baptist Church volunteers will teach kids how to cast so you can spend more time fishing and less time catching trees, bushes and boats. With your new found skils, enter the casting competition and win a prize.
7) Fly Fishing Demonstrations! This new attraction, now in it's second year is provided by Father and Son Team John and Blair Wilson. They will provide you the chance to see Fly Tying and learn why a fishing fly looks like it does. The volunteer Fly Fishermen who do these demonstrations shared their experiences and showed young anglers how to learn the art of fly casting!

8) Heber Down Conservation Area! If you have never been here before, plan to spend some time enjoying the hiking trails, viewing wildlife or picnicking. Visit their website for more information.
9) Fishing for Rainbow Trout! Rods, Reels and bait are all provided. Find a spot at the pond edge and cast your line. Rainbow Trout are an active, aggressive fighting fish and they taste great. Volunteers are on hand to teach how to bait the hook, cast and reel in the fish.
Everything you need is here including volunteers to clean the fish so you can take them home and cook them.
That's right, you can keep the fish you catch or Catch and Release them.
All standard fishing regulations are in effect so anyone who is a Resident of Canada, aged 18 and older, but under age 65 must have a valid Recreational Fishing License. The Conservation Fishing License allows you to keep one (1) Rainbow Trout. A Sport Fishing License allows you to keep two (2) Rainbow Trout.
Persons under 18 years old and over 65 (and some others) are deemed to have a Recreational Fishing License, equivalent to the Sport Fishing License and subject to terms and conditions available at the Official Fish Ontario website.
Heber Down Conservation area is part of the Zone 17 Regulations.
All regulations and limits are in effect.
